New Zealand's Cam Rowston has burst into the UFC middleweight division with an emphatic knockout victory at UFC Perth on Saturday.

The Dana White's Contender Series graduate earned his contract with a first-round knockout on August 19, and immediately demanded his place on the Australia Fight Night in September.

It couldn't have gone any better for the 'Battle Giraffe,' as he dominated perennial middleweight gatekeeper Petroski for a first-round knockout.

Rowston commanded the mic in his post-fight interview, drawing energy from Israel Adesanya in the crowd. The Australian giant continues a fad of DWCS fighters making incredibly quick turnarounds, in the wake of Baisangur Susurkaev debuting the very same week as his DWCS victory.

With Rowston, Brando Pericic, Michelle Montague, and Colby Thicknesse all winning on the prelims, it's now up to Navajo Stirling, Tom Nolan, Jack Jenkins, and Carlos Ulberg to continue the prospect trend.
